Class 6/7A- Write a story describing the journey of a red blood cell through the circulatory system. Use all the major organs in the circulatory system and all four chambers of the heart. Your story must be creative and have personality. Write your name at the end of the story so I know who you are or no credit will be given. Have FUN!
You will be graded based on the following:
1. Content-use of the appropriate vocabulary words as they relate to the circulatory system/heart.
2. Creativity/Personality
3. Spelling

My name is Angie. I am a red blood cell that travels through Samantha Lozada’s body. I travel to a lot of different places in her body. First, my journey starts at her heart. There are a whole bunch of different blood cells that travel with me on my journey. The next organs I go to are the arteries. I like staying there at the arteries for a little while because the other blood cells are slower than me. I have mad skills. I’m faster than any other blood cell in her body… well, except Mike. Mike is super fast! Anyways, after the other blood cells catch up to me, we then try to catch up to Mike while he is on his way to the arterioles. After we catch up to Mike, we then travel to the capillaries. That is a short process because we all get bored there. So, we travel through the venules where there are lots of other blood cells we could talk to and add to our group of blood cells. After we travel through the venules, we go to the veins. The veins are my favorite part of Samantha’s body because they are so colorful and fun. The last organ and the most important organ is the heart. After we reach the heart, we start the cycle all over again and continue over our journey.

My Journey Through the Circulatory System
Hi Everyone! My name is Rbc. It stands for red blood cell. Today is my first day at school and I am so excited! My mom took me to school today. “Bye Rbc!’ she said kissing me on the cheek. “ Mom?!” I said embarrassed. She left.
I go to my teacher. “Hello class,” my teacher said. “Today we will travel through our home, so get your bags!” Yes I thought getting my bag on. Finally I thought A REAL tour of my home. It was going to be great! First, we explored what my teacher said was the heart. “The heart keeps a human alive and makes a rhythm also known as a pacemaker,” my teacher had said. What? I thought that this was only our home! We are really living in a body?
My teacher said that we can control when a person gets sick. Cool I thought. Then, my friends and I followed our teacher. We were now near the veins. I looked at it for a while. My mom never let me go anywhere BUT my school. This was so fascinating! Then we passed by the capillaries, arteries, and venules. I had a different feeling about my home. I could not believe what I had seen! My class stopped. “Look!” said my best friend Fredlick nudging my skinny shoulder. I looked. It was called the aorta which is the biggest blood cell in the body! Wow they’re pretty big especially when you are small like me.
“Children move along!” my teacher said. “This is where the right and left ventricles are,” she said pointing to them. Then we passed the right and left ventricles, body cells, pulmonary veins, vena cava, aorta, and my favorite part, the lungs. “We will continue so keep up children,” my teacher said. We saw the last thing; the septum which I later learned prevents blood from flowing. I couldn’t believe we explored everything but then my teacher said there were a few minor parts left to see and if we were up to it we could go tomorrow! I will always fondly treasure my journey in my home. Until tomorrow, bye!
AS air grew up floating around in the parks seeing little kids breath us up. My parents always told me to stay away so I didn’t get sniffed up. Although I didn’t know much but I knew enough to stay away. My parents told me it was a transformation from a little kid into an adult. In time this transformation would come.
Twelve years later………….
Now that I was thirteen I was told it’s time for my transformation. I now had to go near the kids it was time for me to learn what needed to happen. I needed to go through the human circulatory system. This was the way to become an adult. As the next day came I saw lots of other kids I knew preparing for the transformation as well. We all went near this little girl. She sniffed us up just like a vacuum. As soon as we were in we went passed the nasal passage. Going on a straight drop down to the pharynx. Then down again to the larynx which lead to the trachea. At the bottom there where two tunnels right and left. I chose right because I am a righty. I passed through the right bronchi and into the alveoli.
I was met there by some carbon dioxide that helped me in and I helped her out. Once there I got transfused with a red blood cell. I was now like the brain and I controlled it. After the lungs I went to the pulmonary veins which are rich in oxygen blood cells like me. I went to the left atrium and saw others like me. I followed others to the left ventricle. The aorta was next on the list of places to visit. The body cells are what we saw next in the girl’s body. Vena cava is what leads us out to the body. I went to see the arms legs and even the little toes. I went back to the heart because I was out of oxygen to hand out to the muscles.
I retuned to the heart in the right atrium. I passed through the right ventricle as well. I went to the pulmonary artery which leads me to the lungs. Instead of waiting to be met by more oxygen I got breathed out by some miracle. Some of the other one could stay there for a long but I got out. I had come in a kid and emerged an adult. I was ready to live my life and pass on my knowledge to some other kid who needed to know. My transformation is complete and I Shelby have emerged with knowledge of the human circulatory system.
