natural events such as flowers coming up out of the ground and trees beginning to bud signal the start of spring. the date at which those events occur is pretty predictable, because it is at the same time every year that it starts getting warmer, and the days get longer. the sun and how long it stays out and how warm it is control when spring comes. if it started at different times, the animals would probably freak out, but if their food wasn't there when they woke up out of hibernation, they could starve.
When the sun sets later then it does in the winter, it shows that spring is starting. If you look on trees, you can find that leaves are growing on the tree. Its not always reliable but usually it is because these are natural signs that occur each year. If the timing is not the same every year, it could ruin the order of things. Also the animals would have to re adapted to a different habit. If the seasons started to change earlier, animals would have to change their ways, and do things earlier. As well as human beings. Traditions would happen earlier also.
1. buds and flowers, the sun goes down later
2.it can be reliable but sometimes you just don't know
3.the weather and how close we are to the equater
4.this would effect the ecosystyms lots
Some natural events that signal the beginning of spring is plants growing, more animals coming out, setting the time forward, and ground hog day. The data is very reliable and a great way to learn clues of when spring is coming. I think that scientist are responsible for the timing of when the events occur. scientist could know when the events occur because scientist study and do experiments. If the events occured sooner, it could affect ecosystems by animals coming out of hibernation and the weather could not be the teperture the animals want it. Also some people might get sick from thinking it is Spring.
Scientist think that some of the reasons why the timing of some spring events is the changing of the climax, and relationships between species. If the cycles changes and plants and animals come out different times, animals could die from not finding food and not being use to to weather. The reason why scientist are interested in diaries that belonged to Henry David Thoreau in the in the mid-1800s was because Henry wrote all the flowering times of hundreds of plants in eastern Massachusetts. If plants and fugi emerge different times, it could affect people by not having a lot of fruits and vegetables. Phenology is the study of the timing of events in nature. The National Phenology Network is collecting data about plant flowering and leafing from scientist and non-scientist every year.
1 climate change
2 the plant might become instinct I infer
3 so they can understand if the blooming time has changed
4 the allergy seson would come soon
5 they are a group of citizin scientists that are trying to make a diffrence
There are a couple of signals that shows spring is coming is that the trees are blooming, flowers, etc. I don't think the dates are the most reliable to tell us when the events occur. But that the days might be a little different cause days might change, and that the earth is not automatically gonna make sure when the day happens of when the event occurs, it'll change the event. I don't really think there is really anything responsible of the timing. But maybe the earth. the earth does the seasons, events, etc. on it's own. Maybe if they events changed, i don't think it'll be such a big deal, but like in the spring and it's shorter, the plants won't have enough sun, or what a plant needs to grow. But I don't think the other seasons would be bad. Maybe that in the winter, if it's too long, the animals that hibernate, might die cause, they don't have there food and it's not time for them to wake up.
I think that it's pretty serious that the natural environmental cycles are changing. I think it's a problem now and will maybe in the future. It's because animals rely on the fruits from the plants, and they are growing to early and that they aren't getting pollinated in time, and it's harder for the animals to find/ get their food. If I was in the network, the element I would join is watch the animals. Is because if i notice that later on they start being ill or dying, i could suspect that the climate is not on the right track and that the plants are way too early and the animals aren't able to get their food. It's because to me the biotic things are important, but I love animals, and I'd like some how to tell people and let people know that, so we can figure out a way to help them. If global warming did this, my community could do is have shorter showers, we don't have to use cars everyday, as much as we do now, we could recycle, reuse things. I am really not sure if there is gonna be any changes in any of the seasons. But maybe that for winter, that if they are too early or kate, the animals that hibernate will have trouble finding food, or be asleep for too long.

I think the changes for the farmers is that it's probably that when spring comes, they don;t expect it. When they plant it maybe won't have good weather and won't have the things it need to produce. It probably does affect the farmers. That the weather is perfect, but too early and the plant won't have good wether when spring finishes, Bad. Another example is that the plants that need to pollinate, the insects might not pollinate it 'cause it's too early, it will be harder for the plant to grow the food/ fruit (that's not good.). The 3rd example is that since the plant won't be able to pollinate, the farmers wouldn't be able to produce fruits/ food, and themselves eat food/ fruits. Maybe that it affects people who has allergy. Like if the season comes to early they'll have allergies earlier than they usually do. That the food that grows in a certain season, maybe they would make it as another seasons food type. Park people would be also affected. Is because of the animals and plants would be different and it would be hard to fix them all. The killer bees and fire ants, if they all go to the same state it'll over populate of the insects. that if there are any people who are allergic to bee's they have a greater chance getting stung by one. The economy will be really hard to deal.
Events that signal spring is coming is the sun going down later, plants staring to grow again and Groung Hog Day. These events are reliable because you know when you can start growing gardens again and planting trees. I think why it occurs in the spring because it gets hotter around that time of year. It would affect ecosystems if it happened sooner or later because sometimes birds come out at certain times and by the time they are going to eat berries from trees, the berries have already fallen down.
Answers to the questions before the reading
Leaves growing on trees and warmer weather signals the beginning of spring. The date which these events occur is pretty reliable since it always gets colder at the same time of the year and that's also when the leaves start to fall off the trees. I think cold weather is responsible for these events to happen. If these events don't happen when they're suppose to then there can be a big affect on organisms. They would have to adapt do their new climate and habitat conditions. If they don't they will not survive.
Answer to the questions after the reading
It is very serious that the environmental cycles are changing. It is a problem now since these changes in the environmental cycles is a result of global warming, which is going on now and has been for many years. We can already see the affects of global warming and they can only get worse in the future if we keep contributing to it now.
I would want to watch and report on birds since they are affected a lot by these changes. Birds have to fly all the way to the south when in gets cold then back to the north when it gets warm in the north and birds are having to do this quicker and quicker. Also birds need to eat fruits that grow off plants for their long trips but there continues to be less and less of these fruits because if the changes in environmental cycles.
People in my community can do a lot to help slow down global warming. They can recycle, use less electricity, use less water, and reuse anything they have that is broken. Those are only a few thing they can individually do. Together we can do things like switch our power plants from being electric powered to being solar powered or powered by geothermal energy.
There are changes with spring. It's coming earlier which also means pants are blooming earlier and animals are returning to the north earlier. Changes in any other season would have similar, if not the same affects. Organisms would have no choice but to adapt to the change in timing of seasons. This would take a while and by the time they would have adapted another big change would have already occurred.
Scientists think that spring is coming earlier because of Global Warming. If plants spring earlier, they might die before insects can produce pollen. Birds rely on fruits. Scientists are interested in the diaries from henry David Thoreau because in his diary, he wrote the time plants grew. It will affect people because a lot of people are allergic to pollen. Phenology is the timing of what happens in nature. They are collecting data of when plants grow and leaves growing.

What natural events signal the beginning of spring?
In spring, there is less snow and more leaves falling to the ground. Trees begin to bloom. Dandelions have started to bloom and flowers have grown rapidly.
How reliable is the date at which these events occur each year?
These events are not very reliable because they fall in between different months. Also, each stage takes a while to happen just at the right time. The stages are usually slow but there is always a chance that one stage will be an early developer.
What do you think is responsible for the timing of when they occur?
I think that the weather and the month are responsible for these steps of spring because spring can really only happen when things begin to bloom. Month is responsible because it tells humans spring is arriving and spring tells us on its own when it starts.
What do you think might happen if some of these events occurred sooner or later than they traditionally have been? How might this affect the ecosystems and their inhabitants?
If spring occurred sooner or later it could damage ecosystems or cause “GLOBAL WARMNG." Weather could start getting ironic. It could also affect animals’ habitat and the way they live.
The timing of some spring events is changing. What do scientists think might be responsible for the changes?
Scientists suggest that a growing body of evidence suggests shifts in timing that are coming about because of CLIMATE CHANGE.
What might happen if there is a change in the cycles of when certain plants and animals emerge or mature?
According to Abe Miller-Rushing, relationships between species could be interrupted as a result of timing.
Why are scientists so interested in diaries from the mid-1800s belonging to Henry David Thoreau?
Scientists are so interested in diaries from the mid-1800s belonging to Henry David Thoreau because he kept detailed diaries of the natural cycles in his surroundings. In these diaries, he recorded the flowering times of hundreds of plants in eastern Massachusetts.
How might changing cycles of when plants and fungi emerge affect people?
If flowering shifts a week or two earlier and the insects that pollinate it are not coming out, it's possible that the species won't be pollinated, and it won't set fruit and won’t reproduce.
What is phenology? What are citizen scientists who belong to the National Phenology Network doing?
Phenology, is what scientists call the study of the timing of events in nature. Citizen scientists who belong to the National Phenology Network collect data about plant flowering and leafing every year.
The natural events that signal the beginning of spring are flowers blooming, days sunnier and warmer days, and days get longer and more rain. The date at which these events occur each year is somewhat reliable, because last year spring came very late, and also this year daylight savings was earlier than it was supposed to. I think that how slow the earth moves, affects the cycle of when spring occurs. If some of these spring events occurred earlier or later that would be very bad and it could affect many plants, animals, and ecosystems. For an example bears hibernate for the winter, and if winter comes earlier than the bears expect, than the bears wont have enough time to collect enough food for their hibernation. Scientists believe that the climate change is responsible for the change in spring events. If there is a change in the cycles of when certain plants or animals are emerging than the flower, which only has a week to produce its flowers until pollination, won’t get pollinated because the bees can only pollinate flowers. If the plant doesn’t have flowers it can’t be pollinated. Scientists are so interested in diaries from the mid- 1800s belonging to Henry David Thoreau because in his diary entries he, kept detailed notes of the natural cycles and the flowering times of hundreds of plants in east Massachusetts. It also allows scientists of today to make comparisons in the blooming cycles of plants. Changing cycles too soon can affect people by them getting their allergy symptoms much earlier than they are supposed to. Phenology is something that scientists call the study of the timing of events in nature. Citizen scientists collect data about plant flowering and leafing every year.
Pre-Reading Questions
The beggining of spring is recognized with animals coming out of hibernation, new leaves budding on the trees, and the days that become longer.
Aside from the lengthening days, all of these changes are very reliable. Animals come out at the same time every year. Trees also always bud in spring.
The ammount of sunlight and warmth is very interdependant upon these occurances. If it happened any earlier or later, almost all of the local species would be at risk of extinction.
Discussion Questions
Scientists blame the change in climate for the risk posed to plants, animals, and their habitats. This can cause several interdependant species to die out.
When certain animals or plants mature, if there is a shift in time, the animals might not be able to adapt.
Scientists are interested because all of these pages and diaries are extremely detailed and illustrated in some cases.
This might affect agriculture in the area and the town could have a shortage in food.
Phenology, the study of of timing and events in nature, is what citizens are doing to observe and investigate items in nature.
Groundhog's Day, sun setting later (daylight savings), flower buds, and warmer weather signals the beginning of spring. The date of these events is pretty reliable, but they can never be totally on time. The earth is always changing and one little thing in the chain of nature can affect everything else. So it doesn't happen the exact same time every year. I think that global warming could be responsible for the timing of when things occur. If these events happen any sooner or any later than the estimated schedule, the string of nature could be disturbed. Something as small as caterpillars could affect everything, because birds eat the caterpillars. So if the caterpillars are blooming later then usual, the birds will be hungry because their food source will be postponed. Then the birds will start starving, and the whole ecosystem will be affected.
I think it's really serious that environmental cycles are changing. It’s defiantly a problem to consider right now. If we don't do anything or think about the issues, the cycle is only going to come faster and get more and more mixed up. We can't just ignore it and hope it fixes itself. We need to address it.
If I were part of the National Phenology Network, I would want to work with the closer coordination. I want to study weather patterns, such as change in timing of flowers blooming, bug population, and if everything is connected. I think I would want to watch and record this part of wildlife because that’s really the key element that’s causing everything. I would want to be studying the main focus.
If global warming is the cause of these changes in nature, we just need to slow or stop global warming. Basic methods like recycling, short showers, carpooling, unplugging phone chargers at night, turning off lights if your not in the room, and etc. can be used to help stop global warming.
I think that changes during summer, fall, and winter would have equally important impacts because it’s all nature, so its all connected. Although spring is the season of birth and growth and the flowers blooming and everything coming back to life after winter, fall is equally important. If the leaves fall earlier then they usually do, winter will come faster, and spring will come faster, and everything will be affected because each season strings/leads onto the next.
What natural events signal the begining of spring? THe flowers would start to grow,we will hear the bird singing, and you would also see the leaves growing again.
How reliable is the date at which these events occur each year?
The spring starts on March 21, every year so we can count on that this event will happen no matter what.
What do you think is responsible for the timing of when they occur? I think nature is responsible for the timing of when they occur. Nature is the only responsible thing of when the events occur.
What do you think might happen if some of these events occurred sooner or later than they traditionally have been? If these events happen sooner there would be more spring and bird would come back sooner and flower wouls start to bloom. If these events happen later there would be more winter and flower would not bloom that fast and leaves would take a while to grow back.
How might this affect the ecosystem and their inhabitants? The temperture would afect the ecosysten and inhabitants if spring come sooner people would still think is winter and were coats and hats.
How serious do you think it is that natural enviromental cycles are changing? I think is very seious that the natural enviromental cycles are changing.
Is it a promblem now or something to worry about only in the future? It is a promblem to worry now because climate changes are a long term phenomenon so it will always pose a promblem.
If you were to join the National Phenology Network which elements of wildlife would you like to watch and report on? Why? I would choose the lilac flowering if the lilac bloom before May 20 it an alarm that the wildfires will be severe in the summer. I would choose this element because it's an alarm that if the lilac bloom it would severe.
If Global warming is behind the changes what might people in your community do to help slow this warming. My community would turn off the light when not in the room, take 5 to 10min shower insead of 30min, also when your brushing your teeth and turn off the water and then turn it on. It would help the enviroment alot.
Is there anything particularly special about changes occuring in spring? There is longer days, birds return home, and there is more insects bees and butterfiles. Would you expect that changes in summer, fall,or winter would have similarly important impacts? I would want the changes to be in the winter because I really don't like the winter and the hours would change and go faster. I would really want that.
1. How serious do you think it is that natural environmental cycles are changing? Is it a problem now or something to worry about only in the future? Explain your answer. Everything is changing, because global warming is changing the climate, and also the environment we live in today. I believe it is a problem in the future because what I think is going to happen is there are going to be plants growing earlier, and the city is going to experience new animals too.
2. If you were to join the National Phenology Network, which elements of wildlife would you like to watch and report on? Why? I would watch the tapes of what animals and plants grow. I would also watch a tape of how April, and Winter started. Then I would see what changed during the past and see whats changing now; and how. I would do this to try to find a way to stop this.
3. If global warming is behind the changes, what might people in your community do to help slow that warming? What my community will do and still does, is recycle. In my apartment building their is a box can, and a recycling can, every time I go down to the basement, it will always be full. I will try to encourage them to do it daily to stop this climate change.
4. Is there anything particularly special about changes occurring in spring? Would you expect that changes in summer, fall or winter would have similarly important impacts? Explain your answer. All the plants are growing a couple days and even weeks before Spring is starting. I don’t understand why it is a bad thing but i’m sure something bad will happen if this keeps up. I don’t think anything bad will happen in Winter because it is way to cold. Also I think not all all the plants will fall, because it is way to hot.

What other industries or groups of professionals could be affected by major changes in the timing of when animals and plants emerge and develop? (Hint: What causes allergies? And consider people who must manage landscapes.) It could change because when certain plants come out before Spring time comes, lots of people could be allergic to the plants that just bloomed.

Some insects that can’t stand cold weather may be able to move further north as climate warms. Think killer bees and fire ants. If they were to suddenly establish colonies in a northern state – like Ohio –how might this affect the economy and culture of towns in that state? If the predators of the fire ants and killer bees are in a place where the ants and killer bees are, and the insects left, then the birds ,might die, or either fly away to another place where the killer bees and/or are.
1. I think it is serious that the cycles are changing. It is a problem to worry about now because it can get worse. More cycles could change.
2. If I were to join it, I would want to watch and report on plants and their changes because I think it is interesting.
3. My community could plant more trees. It could try to use cars less also.
4. There are special changes in spring. Flowers and animals start coming out more in spring. It also gets warmer after winter. I wouldn't really expect that other seasons have similar impacts, because different stages happen in the seasons. In summer, more flowers come out and it gets warmer. I fall and winter, animals and plants go away mostly, and it gets colder.
This article was about the environment and how the climate changes for the seasons is either coming too early or too late. I think that the reason why this is happening is because people aren't doing a really good job of helping the environment, only destroying it. Maybe if we helped the environment instead of destroying it, it would be better for plants and animals to live.
1.They think that it's because of the climate change. The climate changing is why spring is coming much faster than it usually does.
2.I think that things on the earth would start to be more ab-normal than it is now. Also we humans will have to discover new things about how the world is changing.
3.The scientists are interested in his diary because in his diary he had recorded the flower times of about a hundred plants in eastern M.A.
4.It might affect the human race by letting out new stenches that we aren't used to, and we might not know if they are poisonous or not.
5.Phenology is the study of times of events in nature. And the group is studying the events in nature to get a closer look on whats goin on.
In the beginning of spring a lot of things start to change. These things include leaves returning to the trees, flowers growing, more birds, and longer days etc. These signs are very reliable. The time change is responsible for the time of day might change for example: before the time changed when i left for school it was so dark and now when i come from school it's co dark.If this all happened at an earlier date then every animal in every ecosystem would have to adapt to it.
Scientists say that global warming might be responsible for the earlier coming of spring.Certain plants and animals age, mature, or grow by the seasons and certain biotic factors like trees normally depend on spring for a lot of different things like how birds depend on trees to make nests in and to live in and if the tree don't adapt to the timing of spring then that cycle is harmed. Scientists are so interested in the diaries that belonged to Henry David Thoreau because it had recorded facts about the surroundings of Henry David Thoreau which shows the cycles of plants so today's scientists can compare the plants' cycles. People have allergies and if the flowers pollinate earlier then kids with allergies would have it earlier than ever before. Phenology is the study of timed events in nature. They collect data about plant flowering everyyear.
In the beginning of spring, birds migrate back to the north, flowers bloom, and leaves grow back on trees. The beginning of spring starting at the same time is reliable. They happen around the same time every year, except last year the first day of spring it snowed. But trees still turn green and flowers bloom. I think because the sun is out more and the days are getting longer the flowers bloom faster. In the winter there are shorter days so the sun isn’t out as long and plants can’t grow, but since the sun is out longer, winter is getting shorter. I think if spring starts earlier birds might not know when to migrate. Flowers might bloom at the wrong time and die because it could be the winter.
I think it is very serious. Living things are in danger of becoming extinct. It is a problem now and we need to fix it because in the future it will be to late. In the future the plants will already be extinct because they can’t reproduce now. I would like to work with the weather patters and cycles of nature and signs of spring and population of insects because I think I could learn the most from that. People in my community could recycle and not litter because there is so much trash on the ground in the city. They could use florescent light bulbs. The changes in the spring are really bad and that proves how bad global warming is. Yes, changes in all the seasons would have very important impacts. I’m not sure what they might be, but knowing what happened in the spring makes me nervous about the winter, fall, and summer. I think, what might happen to our community if this keeps going on or even the world?
I think that it is a big problem to the society because many things happen such as global warming, natural disasters and many others. Also it will be something to worry about in the future because like Global warming is happening it can happen again and we can all get really afected by it in the future.
well i would like to search on animals because they really are affected by it like for example plar bears and penguins the reason why is because mmore and more animals each year die like tons of animals die from global warming so it doesent only affect us it affects the animals in antartica and other places.
well what my people in my community will do is that they will help in a special way.Like they would put papers all aorund the street pole telling people not to smoke or commit air pollution or dont waste electricity or dont waste the water resource and stuff like that.
Well i think it might be bad because we might get a blizzard in winter or it might be extremly hot or not even hot at all in summer like this year it wasent that hot it was only raining and cold a little and most of the beaches in NYC were closed because of the hurricane.
I think it is very serious because like it said in the artical one thing can change everything. it is not a problem right now but it will be if it keeps going on the smae way.
I would like to report on plants because they are easier to moniter and what they are up to.
They might help by buying eco-friendy product and take small steps to the futre.
Based on the aritcal lilacs are blooming early and when flowers bloom they it the animal doesn't come out fast enough then they miss the plant and that effects other plants and also animals. If other animal depend on that then everything is out of order and its place.
"Springing Forward"
Many people have noticed the changing environment. Spring coming earlier? Flowers blooming earlier than they should? Birds shortening their trips down south? Why? Scientists believe it's because of climate change that has caused the sudden disruption in the environment, and as their evidence grows, so does their belief that it is in fact because of climate change. That means trouble for the plants and animals who depend on each other.
Problems might come up for plants and animals appearing before they should because species depend on each other, and say for example a plant blooms early and needs to be pollinated. But, the insects don't appear for another week! Who will pollinate the plants? How will the plants reproduce? How will the birds get food? These problems can occur that would really disrupt the environment.
Scientists were really in need of data over a long period of time to see how climate change affected plants and animals over time! But, they didn't know how to get some! Luckily, Miller-Rushing decided that he would look through the diaries of Henry David Thoreau, a writer and naturalist who lived in Boston in the mid-1800's. This man (who is dead of course) kept detailed diaries of recordings of flowering times for many plants in Massachusetts. This is what scientists were looking for!
Allergy alert! If spring is coming earlier and pollen appears earlier, kids who are allergic to pollen will start sneezing and sniffling earlier! The allergy season will come earlier.
"Phenology" is the study of the timing of events in nature. The National Phenology Network are basically a group of citizen scientists who help scientists learn more about this sudden early spring by collecting data about different plants and animals and how they bloom over time. This will really help scientists in the future.
Q:How serious do you think it is that natural environmental cycles are changing? Is it a problem now or something to worry about only in the future? Explain your answer.
A:I think it is very serious that the environmental cycles are changing because if we disrupt even the smallest little thing it can trow off a whole chain of species. It is a problem to worry about now because things might get out of hand if we change the natural cycle of life.
Q:If you were to join the National Phenology Network, which elements of wildlife would you like to watch and report on? Why?
A:I would watch videos on rain forests and how to help save them from being cut down because rain forests are key to our survival because they produce alot of our Oxygen and they give many animals shelter.
Q:If global warming is behind the changes, what might people in your community do to help slow that warming?
A:In my community we can recycle more, rely on renewable resources and to take showers not baths and make sure they are not long showers.
Q:Is there anything particularly special about changes occurring in spring? Would you expect that changes in summer, fall or winter would have similarly important impacts? Explain your answer.
A:The special changes in Spring is that the flowers star blooming and the trees get their leaves back, also they weather will get warmer.Changes in Summer,Fall or Winter are still important because we need to adapt to that environment so nature gives us a sign like when its close to winter the leaves fall of trees and that tells you its fall. So all changes in the seasons are crucial for us.

Q:How might the changes that scientists have been observing affect farmers in your region? (Hint: How are farms affected by temperatures, birds, insects and other wildlife?) Give three examples of potential changes and describe why you think each would be either good or bad for these farmers.
A:Changes in my region might affect the farmers because if it is getting cold the farmer has the harvest his crops before the cold kills them or in the Summer he has to keep bugs away form eating his crops. These would be bad because the bugs would kill all the crops so he can't sell them or feed his family.
Q:What other industries or groups of professionals could be affected by major changes in the timing of when animals and plants emerge and develop? (Hint: What causes allergies? And consider people who must manage landscapes.)
A:Industries or business groups that might be affected by major changes in timing when plants and animals emerge is the paint industry because they need the dye from plants to make the paint and if they don't emerge in time they can't make the paint.
Q:Some insects that can’t stand cold weather may be able to move further north as climate warms. Think killer bees and fire ants. If they were to suddenly establish colonies in a northern state – like Ohio –how might this affect the economy and culture of towns in that state?
A:If the bees and ants happen to colonize by a farm they will eat the crops and when the farmer harvests them he will have no crops to sell or food to eat and then the farmer loses money and can't buy food so he has to sell kill his animals;so either way he loses money.

Some natural events that signal the beginning of spring are flowers blooming, leaves coming back, cool weather and ground hogs. I believe that the date in which spring starts every year is reliable. I think that spring starts around the same time every year. Some years it is different but only by a little bit. I think that how fast plants grow is partly responsible for the timing of these events like spring. Also animals like ground hogs. I believe that if plants and animals come earlier than expected things will happen faster. If they come later then expected then things will happen slower. This might hurt some plants and animals because they might need somthing at a cerain time.

My opinion is that it is serious that natural environmental cycles are changing. I think that it is a problem now that we should worry about. I believe this because it is affecting many plants and animals. If we worry about this only in thew future then many more plants and animals will dye. If I were to join the National Phenology Network I would like to collect and photograph animals. I would also like to come up with ways to save the animals. I would like to do this because I think that it is very important tom save animals. I would also like to do this because I like to find small animals and I like to take photographs. There are a lot of small things that we can do to help stop global warming some which are picking up garbage, recycling and reusing objects that we no longer need. Another way is by reducing the amount of products we buy and energy we use. This does not necessarily help plants and animals in the spring but it is some steps that we can start to take. There are some special things about spring that are good These thing that are special are that in spring most living things like plants and animals are born. this is mostly not true with other seasons.
Picture a world with just a little bit of flowers. If the flowers keep blooming eary and the bugs that take it won't be able to get it then the earth would be a dry waste land with no life like a crater. We need to stop Global Warming before that happens.
it's really serious that the climate is changing. if plants fail to produce fruit because of pollination issues, people could starve. Businesses could fail and ecosystems could die out.the world might (metaphorically) collapse. i would like to report on the flowering of trees. that way, i could do artwork while doing my job. stop driving cars, for one. we in New York have many options available for them in terms of public transportation. There is also many programs we as New Yorkers could join up to, supporting various organizations. spring means the coming of new life and starting over. Most of the animals and plants in our community are born in spring. in winter its cold, in fall thing die, and in summer things thrive. but in spring things start.
1.The begin of spring is how the tree
have the leaves growing.
2.They are reliable because I can see that how the world is changing.
3.I think that the world is responsible for the weather because the world is moving right now.
4.Then that the world is going slow or because people are not using reduce, reuse, and recycle.

The events of the begining of sping is. The tree's start to grow their leafs. Also the weather gets warmer. Also it starts to rain.
Sometimes this date is not reliable because it can start a few days early or late.
The people who grow the tree's. Also globle warming.
If they come early they can die early and kill animales. It can kill animales in hibernation because there very hungry and if the plants don't they can't eat.
Scientists think globle warming is causing the problem of sring coming early.
Well some animals have hibernation and they eat plants. Some of these plants only last for a month and die so animals can strave.
In Henry's diares showed when sping started and ended.
Fungi can effect many people. If it grows to much then it is hard to get it out of water.
Phenology is the study of plants growing and when Sping starts and stops. The National Phenology Network is a group of people helping sping come at the right time.
The things that naturally happen that signal the beginning of spring is when the flowers start blooming, trees grow there leaves and the sun sets later. These things might not be that reliable because sometimes things can come later than before depending on how cold or hot it is. The thing that is responsible fro the timing for these things are how hot or cold it is and when certain animals come out of hibernation. If somethings that happen in spring usually things will go bad because some animals might not have food or homes because if trees don't grow leaves birds can' make there nests there and will have to find somewhere else.

1. What natural events signal the beginning of spring? You can tell when leaves start to grow on trees and flowers start to bloom.
2. How reliable is the data at which these events occur each year? The data is reliable because when it shows spring starts on the calender that's when flowers start to bloom.
3. What do you think is responsible for the timing of when they occur? I think it goes by the earth's rotation. When the earth gets closer to the sun the earth warms and flowers start to bloom.
4. What do you think might happen if someone might happen is some of these events occurred sooner or later than they traditionally have been? How might this affect the ecosystems and their inhabitants? I think if it occurred earlier then all the plants would die because the earth would not be warm enough yet. If it occurred later then the plants would die earlier then usually.
Discussin Questions for 7th graders
1.How serious do you think it is that environmental cycles are changing? Is is a problem now or something to worry about only in the future? Explain your anwser. I think that is very serious because this means plants and animals can die because plants spring came earlier. I think it is a problem to worry about now because plants goive off oxygen and if a lot of them die there will be less oxygen.
2. If you were to join the National Phenology Network, which elements of wildlife would you like to watch and report on? Why? I would look and report on medicinal plants. I would do that because medicinal plants help us cure things that pills won't and medicinal plants don't have side affects.
3.If golbal warming is behind the changes, what might people in your communtiy do to help slow that warming? The people in my community would start to recycle more and plant in the big empty lot we have.
4. Is there anything particulary special about changes occurring in spring? Would you expect that changes in summer, fall, or winter would have have similarly important impacts? Explain your answer. What makes changes in spring special is how when you see all beautiful flowers and warm sun on you it makes all your troubles go away. Yes because every season to me has something that makes a person happy anf makes life easier.
This article talks about assistant migration. This is when scientists move seeds from one place to another. The scientists say that 800 mid-western species made up to 300,000 seeds. These scientists in the botanical gardens in Chicago believe that some of these plants that are not growing well in there environments should be brought over to other environments to be tested out there. Other scientists say that changing were plants naturally live can be dangerous.
This connects to what we are learning in class because we are learning about plants. In the last blog we talked about climate changing and how that is affecting plants and animals.
I learned about how scientists in the Chicago botanic gardens are dealing with the problem of losing plant species.
Two questions that I still have are: will this really work? and How do the scientists know were to spread the seeds?
1. I think that the weather is not whats its suppose to be. The climate is affecting the natural cycles. The dates that the climate begins is when the pattern of the climate changes. The average rainfall is changing. The scientists need to be careful or there research.
2. What might happen is how the plants are growing in a different year. The animals would not be adapted to there habatat. The cycle would not be right.
3. They are so interested about David Thoreau because he was the one that cured plants. He helped the animals. And he found a way to help the cycle.
4. They affect people by how the plant is more affective and how the different uses. The fungi can support the world by the smell or the food that it gives to us.
5. The phenomenon group is the group that helps the climate. The people that work there is that they keep the climate normal.
What natural events signal the beginning of spring? flowers blooming and trees growing signal the begginning of spring
How reliable is the date at which these event accure? The dates in wich these events happen happen is not relieble because they hppen in different time periods.
What do you think is responsible for the timing of when they occurr? I think that climate and weather are responcible for when they occerr.
What do you think might happen if some of these events occurred sooner or later than they traditionally have been? How might this affect the ecosystems and their inhabitants? I thnk that if they occurred sooner it wou have magor effect on the plants the climate would chang and plants would die. This will destroy the plants. The timing of some spring events is changing. What do scientists think might be responsible for the changes? Scientists predict that climate change is responsible for the changes. The climate is an important factor of plants growth. What might happen if there is a change in the cycles of when certain plants and animals emerge or mature? Relationships between species will be iterupted as a result. Why are scientists so interested in diaries from the mid-1800s belonging to Henry David Thoreau? Sientists are interested in Henry David Thoreaus diaries because he cept deitailed diaries of the natural cycles in his sorrowndings. This helped scientsts alot.Phenology is the study of the timing of events in nature that scientists study. Citizen scientists who belong to the National Phenology Network collect data about plants everywere.
The natural event that signal the beginning of spring are flowers blooming,a bunch of leaves growing on trees. Everything turning green, the wonderfull weather that everyone love. The grass growing. These event occur once a year and they are prety reliable. Cause u can smell the fresh air and smell the wonderful flowers. I think that the sun ,rain is responsible for these when they occur because the sun helps them grow and give them their food and energy. And the rain also helps them grow because it gives them the water that they need and help it live and grow. If these plants occur sooner or later it might effect their habitat and ecosistem because plants have to grow in a certain wheather. Imagine a plant that usually grows in the spring grows in the summer,it might be too hot and the plant might die. There might not be enough rain. Or there might be too much sun and will burn it up. Thats why plants grow in their own habitats. And if all the plants keep growing in different habitats there would'nt be any more plant. And if there's no plants there is no oxigen. No oxigen we all die.

Scientists think that its because of climate change. Plants and animals might die because some plants or animals cant adjust to a new lifestyle. Scientists are interested in this diary because it recorded the flower times of plants so when they looked at his diary they could tell when the flowers are supposed to come out. It can affect people because it probably is poisunus for us so we could probably die.Phenology is the study of plants growing and when spring starts and stops. They help spring come at the right time.
Before i read this i knew it wasglobal warming. I think this mightaffect the food chain. When animalsthat mature early have to wait forplants or other organisms to mature. I think his diaries have vital informaition to find out why plant imerge early. I think it might affect people's breathing because plants change their emerging times & it willt be hard for people to adapt to the changes. Phenology is the study of timing in events in nature. 1.the climate is changing.spring is coming faster, because the climate is changing.
2if a plant is growing in spring and it did not happen. when in winter the plant will die.

1think this is very serious because many living things time their life cycles with the seasons, and relatonships between plant and animals could be out of order as in result of the changes. it is a problem now and will be in the future if it continue to change which i think it will because it is changing now and will continue to change in the future.i would like to report on some animals especially the polar bears because they are in danger because of global warming.people in my community would help by recycling papers, bottles ect. help to keep our community clean by disposing garbage in its proper place, not waisting water and turning off electricty when not in use.i do think there is something special about the changes in sprin because daylight savings time starts earlier which means the days become longer which gove us more time to enjoy the longer hours the trees begin to change earlier, and the weather gets warmer earlier to me. i think that it would would also change for the fall, winter, and summer because if one changes by itself then i think all of them would change at different times and would have longer day or shorter day in the time
The natural events are groundhogs day, flowers warm weather, and white cloths, and leaves come out because the climate change. The climate change is when it starts to get warmer. But it’s getting closer and closer then usual.
The dates are very reliable because they tell us about when spring is coming we have a signal to tell us when spring is coming. Then we can start wearing the right cloths for the changing weather.
I think the timing is in June because that is the time of the year when it just gets warm information for us to go outside in shorts and t-shirts. And the thermometer starts to go back up.
If the events occurred sooner then the animals would wake up at the same tome that the weather started to go up. For instants on groundhog day when the little ground hog comes out of the hole then the and if the groundhog doesn’t see his shadow then he will leave the borrow that means that winter will soon end.
The timing is sooner and sooner every year. The scientist is investigating how the climate change affects the events that come and how it affects nature. Most organisms time there life with the season’s relationships can be interacted because of the change of time.
What might happen is that the animals and the plants might be so used to waking up at one time that they might wake up and it will be to cooled so their population will go down. The animals will be to cool so they can’t stay alive.
The way fungi affects people are that it lets it go in the air and causes people to sneeze, cough, and sniffle. Spring season is coming earlier this year so the pollen is going to come out earlier.
The writer Henry David Thoreau is a naturalist who lived in the suburbs and he kept diaries. The diaries were for the seasons and keeping track of them.
Phenolgy is the study of seasonal cycles. The scientists are predicting how natural communities will change also how the changes will affect people. Wild fires before may 20th. And wild fires later in the summer.
Some thing s that is really bad is that the insects eat at the food that grows in the farm. And the temperature can get really low and the food will freeze. And if it gets really hot there won’t be enough water.
What cause allergies is pollen and fungi and mostly things that live on trees because they are most likely to fall off and people will breathe that pollen and/or the fungi and start to cough.

And wild fires later in the summer.

.Flowers and tree buds are the signs of spring coming
.The days for the plants to come out are not very reliable right now
.the temperature of the climate is responsible for the plants timing
.climate change might ecosystems lots at first, but soon animals will get used to and adapt to it
