THE articalis about a huge Burmese python. A python is a big constricting SNAKE fron Souther Asia. I really don't know hat happen but from what I read I saw it was written October 13,2009. They found this python in Southern Florida. The found this snake due to the thank of relatively ungoverned global trade in exotic reptiles as pet.
It's about snakes (like different types of pythons) that are expanding from south Florida when it it really suppose to in southern Asia. And that they are treating the environment (like the parks, mainly making the predators having trouble for their food.) This is happening in south florida, but it's expanding. Some of them are dangerous, and that they have to be careful, because this is not their natural environment. That they also care about other species than snakes.
I think that the burmese pythons do not belong here because they are from Asia and its ruining the circle of life. Its messing up our ecosystems by living there were they don't belong and eating our animals.
Reed 6/7 e Title: Huge Snakes Pose 'High Risk' to U.S. Ecosystems Author:Andrew C. Revkin This article is about the Burmese python, which is from southern Asia, and a few other exotic species of snakes living in South Florida. These snakes were let go in Florida through a ungoverned global trade. Now,because of this trade, the U.S. Geological Survey says that these snakes pose a high risk of disturbing important ecological webs. Robert Reed, a survey herpetologist, thinks this will happen since the snakes will end up adapting to the Florida environment. I completely agree with Mr. Reed. The different generations of snakes would have no choice but to adapt to the environment around them. So we don't disrupt any important ecological webs I think we shouldn't take animals away from their habitat to let go somewhere else or to keep as pets, unless they would be well contained in a zoo.
I don’t really think that big snakes mess up the ecosystem because they eat up a lot of animals. I don’t think it’s a problem if an animal is eating another animal instead of a human hurting another animal. I am not sure that they should take away the snakes because something like the deer situation in the Grand Canyon might happen where there was too much prey and not enough predators. If there is not enough predators that could mess up the ecosystem too. Maybe the problem is that the snakes aren’t the original predators and now there are too many. I could see how this could throw off a balance.
It is by Andrew C. Revkin. There is a global trade in exotic reptiles and pets and it's hurting our ecosystem. It is about big snakes, such as a Burmese python and four other species of giant constricting snakes being a risk to important ecological webs in the United States, but specifically in Florida. In 2007 Mr. Snow had found, from the small amount of pythons he had caught, what they have been eating. They found mice, rats, rabbits, squirrels, possums, raccoons, and a bobcat inside it's stomach.
The snake is like very long, and that a giant constricting snake from southern Asia, was enjoying a new and expanding range in South Florida thanks to the relatively ungoverned global trade in exotic reptiles as pets. now the U.S. geological survey has issued a report constricting snakes pose a high risk or disrupting important ecological webs, and that The new report says that boa constrictors have established breeding populations in Florida and that the African python has probably done so as well.
Andrew C. Revkin found a large python. It was found in southern florida. The constricting python was from southern asia. This snake had swallowed native cotton mice, native cotton rats , rabbits, squirrels, possums, raccoons, a bobcat, hooves of a deer, wading birds, water birds, pied-billed grebes, coots, egrets, limpkins, and at least one big alligator. These people found this snake about two years ago. This snake just happened to be enjoying a new and expanding range in South Florida. The united states has issued a report, concluding that the Burmese python and four other species of giant constricting snakes pose a high risk of harming some very crucial ecological webs. This will happen if these large species of snakes should become established in our society.
NY Times article on big snakes response Isabel Mandelbaum 6/7 A In this article, the who is giant constricting snakes. They began as a pet trade in Florida, but obviously, some of them got out. Now they're roaming the Everglades. Now, these snakes can EAT. They even found a bobcat in the stomach of one. That means these snakes could pose a very large threat to the ecosystem of the Everglades. For this reason, people, called the snake patrol, have to go and catch the loose snakes. I don't think that anyone should have wanted to keep the snakes as pets in the first place. Couldn't a snake like that EAT you?

I don't understand why people would bring these snakes to florida. They were not already there thye were only in southern asia. I don't think that it was good that they did this. They found one of these python and cut it open to see what it had eaten. I am so supriesd that it could eat ao much. It had eaten small mammals, rats, mice, bob cats and even a deer. It was not good that these snakes were set loose because they are destroing many plants and eating many animals. They were origanaly brought as pets but theywere let loose. I think it is better if they stay pets and are not let loose. Although I think this it does not make it aany better that they brought them in the first place
Lately, large pythons have been posing high risks to our ecosystem. Now, the United States Geological Survey has issued a report concluding that the Burmese python and 4 other species of giant snakes who pose a high risk of disrupting important webs should they every be started in the United States. This probably was issued this year because United States Geological Survey issued this topic October 13, 2009. Large pythons are destroying our ecosystems and parks, primarily through prederartion. Large pythons are destroying our ecosystems and parks because they threaten to destabilize some of our most precious things. There are already a large number of them living in New York and some are living in the Everglades. So many snakes are reproducing which is why there population is increasing. Boa constrictors one of the fattest and largest snakes have been mainly appearing in Florida and Africa. The snakes are very harmful, and have strong, poisonous fangs. You can get seriously hurt if you go close or bother one. I would not go near one if I was you.

wow!I think it is very surprizing that snakes from Burma are in florida! the snakes are curently being found in the everglades. the article says that this is disrupting ecosystyms. I think this problem woulden't be so big if the snakes didn't eat so much but as stated they eat loads!(mice, possem, deer, birds and an alligator?!)
Well after reading this artical I am astonished to see what's hapenning. I now know how dangerous snakes really are. Even though I knew they snakes were dangeruos I didn't know how they affected our ecosystems. I didn't know that they just kill anything in their tracks thats just rediculous. I was even more shocked to here what they eat. They eat birds, rats, and even a bobcat and even worse a whole alligator!!! As you can see snakes are a dangerous species to our ecosystems and mabey a little too dangeruos. I belive we should remove most of them, like from what they do in the video and take them for study. Yes, I know thats their habitat but their dangerous and redilculously scary/poisenest. They can not only endanger other animals but other humans. I was very shocked to see that video but am very glad to see what people are doing since these huge snakes could have such a risk in our ecosystems, and also other countries ecoysetems. I was surprised that Mr. Snow had a freezer with the inside of different pythons stomachs. I did not know that people that studied different animals did that. Also I never knew that a python can eat a whole alligator. When I seen the video on how they caught the snake it looked kind of dangerous. Also because they caught it in the night. I think it is good that we have different people for different things in the world. For people that catches snakes I think they are brave people.
This arcticle discusses the threat posed by giant snakes in the southern United States. It also talks about how there are state troopers that are trying to stop the snakes from reproducing and expanding their territory. Very interesting!
I think \"Huge snakes pose high risk to U.S ecoststems\" , by Andrew C. Revkin, was very interesting because the capture so many snakes. Like Burmese python, and the Southern Aisa constricting snake. They even show videos of them capturing snakes. What they do is, take a long wooden stick and hold it over the snakes head, then the other person picks it up by the head so it cant bite them. The other person takes it by the tail and they both stuff it into the bag, when they do this, they do it very carefully because they do not want to hurt the snake. Because once they capture them, they take them to their lab and they study them and if them are sick than it will be harder for them to test on them. Also i found out that a male snake is actually smaller than a female. the way they find the snake in the first place, is by driving around at night looking for a snake with a flashlight . they do this at night because the snakes mostaly come out at night. Snakes are very interesting, but you have to becareful because they can be very dagerous.
My reaction is it made me think about whether it is more important to protect the snakes as a species, or the other species' whose popullations are hurt by them. Also that the snake population is so big in south Florida because of the globalpet trade. If they vput limits on the trade, there wouldn't be as many snakes there. They are both difficult issues, and people should dosomething about them.

i think the article about the Huge Snake Pose 'High Risk' to U.S Ecosystems was very interesting they are called Burmese phthon, which is a giant constricting snack from southern Asia.they are high risk because they threaten to destroy some of our most precios ecosystems and parks. They are already here in large numbers and are continuing to breed in the Everglades. Mr.Snow who is a park service biologists or snake patrol opened the lid to a freezer in his lab that contained plastic bags ful of the contents which he had collected from a small fraction of pythons that he was able to catch. It was interesting to find out that they found small mammlas, cotton mice, cotton rats, rabbits, squirrels, and a variety of other things.
This arttical is about how snakes (pythons) are expanding in southern Florida when they are really suppose to be in Asia. Its also effecting the ecosystem because the preditors don't have enough food to eat because of these snakes. And they are not in their natural enviroment. I think this is a bad thing that snakes are caming to Florida because its not their enviroment but also because that they are adapting to another enviroment and eating our food. I predict that as long as they aren't doing any harm them we should leave them in place.
This article is about how Burmese pythons and other snakes are invading the everglades in Florida. I really hate nonnative species. I did not like this article because it didn’t have a bright side. It just depressed me. I wish that these stupid snakes would just go away!
how can snakes harm the environment.I think that snakes should be able to live freely. I also think that sankes should be left alone and not be disturbed.

These snakes are a threat to our ecosystems and parks. They eat mice, rats, rabbits, squirrels, possums, raccoons, bobcats, water birds, and even a small alligator. Biologists are worried that this might destabilize our native ecosystems

i think the article about the Huge Snake Pose 'High Risk' to U.S Ecosystems was very interesting they are called Burmese phthon, which is a giant constricting snack from southern Asia.they are high risk because they threaten to destroy some of our most precios ecosystems and parks.
